Hosted by the Human Space Program, the Space Education Summit focuses on helping more people experience the Overview Effect, benefit from it here on Earth, and become engaged in preparing for humanity’s rapidly approaching multi-planet future. Past sessions and hightlights are viewable on the related YouTube Channel.

This third itteration of the summit takes place April 21, 2023the day before Earth Day! For the first time the event is scheduled on a Friday, allowing teachers to include their students as participants alongside space industry professionals and space enthusiasts from around the world.

At the last Space Education Summit the day opened with a panel of five astronauts sharing their experience of the overview effect — and how we might best prepare students for humanity’s multi-planet future.

A FREE ONLINE event, the summit features an opening panel with astronauts, four concurrent sessions in multiple strands, and a closing capstone session. The Education strand is for teachers, school leaders, and others interested in preparing today’s students for the growing space economy — and for humanity’s rapidly approaching multi-planet future. The Consciousness & Psychology strand is meant for academics, clinicians, and anyone with an interest in wellness, self development, and the mental health of humans in space — and on Earth. The Young Professionals strand is for students, aspiring space industry professionals, and those new in their roles. Other session topics include Culture & Design, Ethics & Law, and more.
